A Champagne-Themed Valentine’s Menu

a bottle and glasses of champagne with crab legs and dessert

There are few wines as romantic—or as special—as champagne, France’s premier sparkling wine. To bring that extra special touch to your Valentine's Day, here are three delicious ways to add sparkle to your evening and menu.

1. A Champagne Cocktail

Start your evening off with the perfect romantic cocktail. A variation on a Kir, a cocktail invented in France in the 1940s, a Kir Royale is traditionally a mixture of champagne and crème de cassis, a black currant liqueur. To make it at home, just add 1 to 2 teaspoons crème de cassis to the bottom of champagne flutes before topping with champagne (shown above).

2. A Champagne Food Pairing

Champagne is food-friendly and versatile, especially as an accompaniment to shellfish. Open your favorite bottle to pair with steamed crab legs.

3. A Champagne Accent

Save just a little champagne from dinner and add a splash to your fruity dessert. The bubbles give the fruit a fresh and lively finish.
