1 (16 oz) Deli fresh mozzarella cheese log
1/4 cup cornstarch
2 large eggs, beaten (or 1/2 cup egg substitute)
1 cup seasoned bread crumbs
1/3 cup canola oil
1 cup marinara sauce


  1. Cut cheese into 1/2-inch rounds. Dip cheese in cornstarch, coating both sides, then dip into eggs, letting excess drip off. Dredge in bread crumbs (wash hands). Freeze cheese 30 minutes.
  2. Preheat oil in large sauté pan on medium-high 2–3 minutes. Add cheese; cook 2–3 minutes on each side or until browned. Heat marinara to serve on the side.

Other Preparation Methods

  • Bake: Halve French bread lengthwise; top cut sides with pizza sauce, sliced fresh mozzarella, and your favorite pizza toppings. Bake 15 minutes at 425°F for quick and easy French bread pizzas.
  • Salad: Toss cubed fresh mozzarella with sliced olives, chopped pepperoncini, diced salami, halved cherry tomatoes, chilled, cooked tortellini, and Italian dressing for a Mediterranean pasta salad.
