Ingredients

16 oz Deli fresh mozzarella cheese log
1/4 cup cornstarch
2 large eggs, beaten (or 1/2 cup egg substitute)
1 cup Italian-seasoned bread crumbs
1/3 cup canola oil
1 cup marinara sauce

Steps

  1. Cut cheese into 1/2-inch rounds. Dip cheese in cornstarch, coating both sides, then dip into eggs; let excess drip off. Dredge in bread crumbs (wash hands). Freeze cheese 30 minutes.
  2. Preheat oil in large sauté pan on medium-high 2–3 minutes. Add cheese; cook 2–3 minutes on each side or until browned. Serve with warm marinara on the side.

Other Preparation Methods

  • Bake: Halve French bread lengthwise and top cut-side with pizza sauce, sliced fresh mozzarella, and your favorite pizza toppings. Bake 15 minutes at 425°F for quick and easy French bread pizzas.
  • Salad: Toss cubed fresh mozzarella with sliced olives, chopped pepperoncini, diced salami, halved cherry tomatoes, chilled cooked tortellini, and Italian dressing for a Mediterranean pasta salad.
