Ingredients

3 oz thinly sliced prosciutto (4 slices)
1 large Honeycrisp (or Fuji) apple
16 teaspoons crumbled blue cheese
8 small, fresh sage leaves
8 teaspoons chopped walnuts
1/2 teaspoon pepper

Steps

  1. Cut prosciutto slices in half lengthwise. Remove core from apple, then cut into 8 (1/4-inch-thick) slices.
  2. Top each apple slice with 1 slice prosciutto, 2 teaspoons blue cheese, 1 teaspoon walnuts, and 1 sage leaf; sprinkle pepper evenly over apple bites. Serve.

Other Preparation Methods

  • Slow Cooker: Peel and core 4 large Honeycrisp apples, then cut into 1-inch pieces. Toss with 2/3 cup brown sugar, 1 tablespoon cornstarch, and 1 tablespoon apple pie spice. Place mixture into buttered slow cooker bowl; top with 1/4 cup melted, unsalted butter. Cover and cook on LOW 6–8 hours, stirring occasionally, or until apples are tender.
  • Bake: Preheat oven to 225°F; line baking sheet with nonstick foil. Slice 1 large Honeycrisp apple very thinly. Toss with 2 teaspoons sugar and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon. Spread in single layer on baking sheet. Bake 2–2 1/2 hours or until dried. Apples will crisp as they cool.
